Necessary Biased Reflections Following Attendance of the Fond du Lac, WI Tea Party Rally
Normally I blog about antiques that I sell on-line in several places around the internet. Today I am diverging because I need to talk about a historic event that occured all around the United States of America yesterday. It made me PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN even though I participated in only a small way. And I have to talk about this here because I feel the patriots who attended rallys all over this country yesterday are not being given the recognition they deserve. So this is my small contribution.
WHO, WHAT and WHERE
At 5:30 PM in the small town of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin I joined a gathering of about 500 concerned citizens and patriots in a Tea Party rally. My fellow patriots came in all shapes and sizes carrying handmade signs. There were families like the one shown below:

Older Americans long retired…..soccer moms…..3 piece suits…… veterans …. Harley Riders …… strange looking youngsters with multiple piercing and wild colored hair…….. and just everyday Americans trying to get the word out about their frustrations with the way things are going for them today. People afraid for thier futures.
It was an interesting cross section of people. I saw some of my friends and neighbors and I talked with people from all over. One of the people I’ll remember best was a retired teamster who used to drive for the defunct CW Transport company. He carried a sign that read: “We put a Jackass from Chicago in the Whitehouse. In two days half the country is out of work!” Not hard to see where he is coming from or what he thinks! Just reading signs was enough to show why people were there. The messages went from simple and concise like “Stop Spending My Money!”, or “Wake Up America.” and “Give My Grandchildren a Chance” to humorous and sad signs like the one shown below:
This sign was followed closely by another that read: “Save a tree – Stop printing money.” And there were several signs with a theme about “change” like one that kind of sums it all up with the words “CHANGE – That’s All We Will Have Left in our Wallets!!”
Some signs were simple and to the point showing what was important to the carrier like this next one in the picture being held by just another middle aged mother:
Another one carried by some young women read: “Proud to be an American! Why Apologize?” Not hard to figure out where that comment was coming from…..I too have had my fill of our president’s overseas comments.
There were a couple of older gentlemen offering small American flags to people not carrying signs. And just as many men and women carrying signs and flags all through the crowd.

Many more interesting signs could be seen.”We Don’t Want Big Government!” “I Want My Country Back!” and “Life Liberty and Freedom From Government Tyranny” or “Washington Sold Us Out”. Pretty clear messages. My favorite is short and to the point: “You Work for US”.
The signs said it all…..simple or complex. The message was “Let’s reclaim our Country!” There were speakers from local and state government. People raised their voices….USA, USA, USA!!! WE THE PEOPLE! and “THIS IS WHERE WE LIVE!” State senator Glen Grothman reminded us that we are soon to be paying more taxes here in Wisconsin on hospitals, nursing homes, income, tobacco, and business. He reminded us that veterans fought for our constitution and everyone of these new taxes is about creating dependancy and slaves to big government. Today we stood shoulder to shoulder, neighbor next to neighbor, stranger next to friend and drew a line in the sand and said loud and clear; “NO MORE”!
So while some signs like the ones below had long and complicated messages that were very well thought out:

Others just had a simple, easy to understand message:
So I stood proudly beside my fellow Americans to show my solidarity. I’m 62 years old and I’ve watch my retirement investments circling the drain. I’ve watched my daughters inheritance being grabbed from me and given to those who have done nothing to earn it…… while my daughters have! You see I am proud of my children who each support themselves entirely….. who sacrifice and give of their time and money privately to other people who need help. They don’t need our government taking their inheritance and giving it to illegal aliens and people who are just plain lazy blood suckers….. or to politicians and banks and big business who don’t deserve it. Our constitution says we have the right to the pursuit of happiness….. but it says nothing about our being entitled to happiness courtesy of the government who will take from the hard working citizens of this country and give it to who they deem worthy including themselves.
WHY
So why am I saying these things today? Because the media apparently thinks that thousands and thousands of American Patriots who gathered at Tea Parties large and small in 50 states all over this great country are misguided and insignificant. A few of the major networks gave lip service to a balanced coverage….. NOT …. in my humble opinion. I offer as an example Fox Channel 11 in Green Bay’s coverage of my little rally in Fond du Lac. Check out the video here and see if you think it was biased or balanced.: Hundreds Protest at FDL Tea Party.
NOW WHAT
Last night I joined a long line seen in this picture below to sign a declaration of OUR independence. If there are more rallies I will be there. I am no longer a member of the SILENT majority. Maybe we busy, working Americans made a mistake ignoring the “Change” taking place around us……but we can’t afford to ignore it any more. Join me…… Stand Tall and join the Revolution of 2009!

HOW
How can you make a difference you ask…… you think the rallies are over? That there is nothing you can do anymore? Not true!! Write your local, state and federal politicians ….. send them a tea bag and a note to “CUT SPENDING” – “NO MORE TAXES”. Most important in upcoming elections do your homework and investigate the candidates you vote for before you vote. Don’t believe the media…… study the candidates past, what they accomplished and listen carefully to what they want to accomplish and how they want to do it. Don’t fall for pretty speeches. And look carefully at who they surround themselves with…… tax dodgers and thieves do not make good leaders! We need change in this country, but not the kind we are getting. Don’t be fooled and PLEASE stand up and say what you believe.
All this can be done just as peacefully as these thousands of rallies took place all over this great country of ours yesterday. So if any of the signs or pictures above touched your soul, or if you agree with all or even just part of what I have said here then stand up for your country and your future – be silent no more. Use the power of your vote to make changes….. use the power of your voice to spread the word ……. WE AREN’T GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!
